whiskey fueled ramble on the need for perspective
Like many people, I go through phases.
Writing and not writing. Photographing and experiencing. Learning and forgetting. Hunger and apathy. it is one or the other, back and forth like a wave on an ocilloscope.

Frozen Vent Pipes Defeated???
This post is to share my pain about frozen vent pipes. If you have no interest in the matter, my feelings would not be hurt if you stopped reading now.
So, a few of you may remember that I have occasionally mentioned that it gets so damn cold up here that our septic vent pipes freeze closed, causing our septic tank to vent into our house instead… pure awesomeness. The situation...

The clutch on my car won’t disengage. Either the fluid needs to be flushed, or the master cylinder needs to be rebuilt… Probably both.
My other car is frozen solid and the engine flooded when I tried to jump it.
USAA is not providing tow service because of the weather… It’s too damn cold.
Tow companies all over Fairbanks are all “booked up” for today....

Life experience, or Things you never would have...
Last night I decided to make pasta from scratch.
After putting two cups of flour, one Tbsp of olive oil, and 1/2 tsp of salt in a bowl, I realized I only had one of four of the required eggs.
I googled “egg substitutions” and found that one egg equals two Tbsp of water, one Tbsp of oil, and two Tbsp of baking powder.
so I tried it.
and it SO does not.
I am now officially smarter.
